Communication Skills.

Effective Communication skills play a crucial role in honing one’s personality. Communication helps individuals to express themselves in the most convincing way. Your thoughts, feelings and knowledge should be passed on in the most desirable manner and effective communication skills help you in the same.

1. Smile a Lot

Smiling a lot can mean that someone is very pleased or happy about something. For example, you might say “He was beaming from ear to ear”. 

Smiling can also mean to feel positive about someone or something, or to treat them in a positive way. For example, you might say “The government began to smile on small businesses”. 

Smiling can have many benefits, including: 

Happiness: People who smile often tend to be happier and more energetic. 

Health: Smiling can improve cardiovascular health by increasing blood flow to the brain and lowering blood pressure. 

Dateability: Smiling can make you more dateable

2. Think Positive

“Thinking positive” means having an optimistic attitude and focusing on the good in any situation. It’s about approaching life’s challenges with a hopeful perspective, rather than immediately assuming the worst will happen. 

Positive thinking can have a big impact on your physical and mental health. It can help you:

Cope with stress and hardships, Think more creatively, Be better at problem-solving, Form positive relationships, Improve your pain tolerance, Boost your immune system,

Here are some tips for developing a positive mindset:

Take back control of the things you can change, Learn to accept the things you can’t change, Go easy on yourself, Pay attention to your diet, Embrace change, Step outside of your comfort zone.

3. Dress sensibly

“Dress sensibly” means to wear clothes that are practical and suitable for the purpose, rather than being fashionable or attractive. 

“Dress sense” is the ability to choose clothes that look attractive and suit you. It’s also considered the ability to make any combination of clothes look fashionable and attractive

4. Be a Soft Spoken

Having a gentle, quiet voice or manner

5. Leave your Ego Behind

The phrase “leave your ego behind” means to check your sense of self-importance before entering a situation or conversation. It can also mean letting go of the need to be right, in control, or recognized for your accomplishments. 

Here are some tips for leaving your ego behind: Be open to changing your opinions, Assume good intentions, Pause before going into defensive mode, Ask questions, and Consider that you are now smarter than you were yesterday. 

Letting go of your ego can help you become more open to new ideas, perspectives, and ways of doing things. It can also make you more curious, humble, and willing to learn from others.

6. Avoid Backbiting

Backbiting is the act of saying unkind or mean things about someone who is not present. It’s also known as tale-bearing. Synonyms of backbiting include slander, abuse, spite, and gossip. 

Here are some tips to avoid backbiting: Don’t say something behind someone’s back if you wouldn’t say it to their face, Mind your own business, Be trustworthy, Understand that everyone is struggling, and Disengage from gossip. 

The term “backbiting” originated from the blood sport of bearbaiting, where it referred to an unfair attack from the rear

7. Help Other

“Help” means to provide someone with what is needed to accomplish a task or satisfy a need. Some synonyms of “help” include: aid, assist, support, encourage, facilitate, back, promote, bolster, abet, and guide. 

Here are some examples of “help” in a sentence: 

“He planned to help me with my work”. 

“Let me help you with those packages”. 

“He has helped to raise a lot of money”. 

“My mum used to help cook the meals for the children”. 

“America’s priority is to help nations defend themselves”

8. Confidence

9. A Patient Listener

A patient listener is someone who gives their full attention to another person or thing, and listens to understand rather than to respond. Some qualities of a patient listener include:

Not filling silences: A patient listener doesn’t try to fill silences with their own thoughts or stories.

Listening to understand: A patient listener listens to understand, not to respond. They don’t prepare a reply while the other person is still speaking.

Not changing the subject:  A patient listener doesn’t change the subject too abruptly, as this can convey boredom and impatience. 

Being a patient listener can be important in healthcare, as it can help build trust and respect with patients. It can also help physicians and patients work together to create an authentic care plan.

10. Interview Skills

Interview skills are the abilities that help job seekers stand out during an interview and demonstrate why they are the best candidate for the job. These skills include: 

Active listeningPaying close attention to what the interviewer is saying and responding thoughtfully
